Go There, Eat That: Sept. 10-16

Here are our picks for fun places to eat and drink while enjoying the Catskills. This week offers several opportunities to sample the wares from Catskill-area food trucks before they go into winter hibernation. Know of a food-related event coming up? We do this every Thursday, so let us know, too.

  • Olive Day: Saturday, Sept. 12, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Lester S. Davis Park, Watson Hollow Road, West Shokan. Celebrate “family and farms” at this outdoor festival featuring food and products from Catskill farms, games, children’s events, arts and craft vendors. Ben Rounds, The Pontiacs and the Spillway Band will play. There will be a car show and a performance of “The Rejuvenary River Circus” by the Arm of the Sea Theatre, sponsored by the Olive Free Library. Admission is free.
  • Dan Rion Memorial Antique Engine Jamboree & Powerfest: Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m., Hanford Mills Museum, 51 County Highway 12, East Meredith. The 32nd annual event features tractors, automobiles, steam and gas-powered engines, outboard motors, model engines and boats. Take the kids to see working machines dating back to the early 20th century that chop, grind, mix cement, saw logs and shell corn. Cooperstown’s Tickled Pink BBQ truck, which just got a thumbs-up from comedian Jeff Foxworthy, will be on hand selling pulled pork, macaroni and cheese and other goodies. Desserts will be offered the old-fashioned way: members of the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church congregation are baking pies. Admission is included with a museum ticket, which are $9 for adults. Children 12 and under get in free.
  • Drum Boogie Festival 2015: Saturday, Sept. 12, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (rain date Sunday, Sept. 13), Andy Lee Field, Rock City Road, Woodstock. Go hungry to this free, family-oriented and multicultural festival, which celebrates diverse styles of music, dance and voice from around the world. Catskills and upstate NY food trucks will be on site, including El Danzante on Wheels, Just Good Eats Soda Fountain, The Green Palate, Lekker, My Lucky Noodles, Woodstock Cupcakes, ‘Cue and Kona Ice.
  • Harvest Festival at Bethel Woods: Sunday, Sept. 13, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 200 Hurd Road, Bethel. The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts continues its 17th annual month-long celebration of Sullivan County farms, food and fun. Held each Sunday through Sept. 27, the kid-friendly festival features a farmers’ market, live music, corn and hay mazes, pony rides and crafts. This week’s theme is “Earth Day in Autumn,” and the Delaware Raptors Birds of Prey make a special appearance at from 1:15 to 3 p.m. Free admission, $2 parking fee. No pets allowed.
