Here’s a new twist on big media’s growing adoration of the Catskills: farmers and restaurateurs as fashion models.
Real Simple, a national glossy magazine, published a photo spread called “Down to Earth” in its October issue, featuring six Catskill women: Star Route Farm‘s Tianna Kennedy, Cowbella‘s Shannon Mason, Treadlight Farm‘s Irene Berkowitz, Brushland Eating House‘s Sara Mae Elbert, Stony Creek Farmstead‘s Kate Marsiglio and Table on Ten‘s Inez Valk.

The feature, which is not online, showcases Eileen Fisher alpaca ponchos and scarves, Burberry wool and cashmere wraps and other high-end clothing for fall.

For the eight-page spread, the women were photographed by Gentl & Hyers Photography against rural backdrops like barns and farm pickups. Mason is shown in a silk dress with her arm around one of her Jersey cows, while Marsiglio is joined by daughter Lucia.
“Who better to show off the new gorgeous-yet-grounded fall knits?” Fashion Editor Victoria Sanchez-Lincoln asks. “Six real women with equal measures of style and substance.”
