As part of the third annual Schoharie County Family Farm Day, Ky-Mar Farm Distillery in Charlotteville hosted a pop-up farmers’ market on Saturday, including produce from nearby Star Route Farm and other local growers, along with booths by Green Wolf Brewing Co. in Middleburgh and Royal Meadery in Richmondville. The one-year-old brewery and the brand-new meadery, along with With Ky-Mar and 1857 Spirits, Barber’s Farms’ new vodka distillery in Middleburgh, make up the new Schoharie County Beverage Trail.
The trail, which launched Aug. 1, has begun a reward-card program. If you visit and spend at least $15 at each of the four locations, plus “friend of the trail” bakery and fudge shop Under the Nose, you get a trail T-shirt.
Ky-Mar, which is open Friday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. through Christmas, offers tours and a lovely indoor (air-conditioned!) tasting room. Local goods such as Peck and Potter Farm jams and granola and confections from Thompson’s Sugar Shack are for sale there, along with spirits by the bottle from the Catskills and elsewhere in New York State.
Here are a few photos from the event; mark your calendars for next year’s farm day on Aug. 13, 2016.
