Just in time for Bovina’s Open Barn & Studio Tour next week, Brushland Eating House is launching a new ice cream parlor inside its dining room.
Owner Sohail Zandi tells Catskill Eats that the new venture will be called The Huddle. It will offer soft-serve ice cream beginning on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. That’s also the day that 16 farmers, artists and other local business owners in the Delaware County town will throw open their doors to the public for the third annual tour.
Like its 1-year-old parent restaurant, the new dessert spot takes its name from an old moniker for Bovina Center. From the town historian’s website:
Brushland, also known as The Huddle, and now Bovina Center, was near the center of the town. People from the various neighborhoods frequently came to the post office, stores or mills and it was during these trips that they exchanged local news.
Watch Zandi and his partner, Sara Mae Elbert, talk about their business on a video for the tour website.
